The terminology of printing is sometimes confusing so we thought a quick definition of some of the terms might help:
Giclée
Giclée (pronounced “g-clay”) is more commonly known as ink jet printing and achieves fine art quality print by spraying or squirting microscopic dots of pigment based ink onto paper with great accuracy. The quantity of ink and the ratio of inks used is digitally controlled to suit the paper type being printed to achieve as true a reproduction of the original work as possible.
Digital
Most digital printing is one form or another of what is usually called laser printing where a complex system of lasers electrostatically charge the surface of a drum which then selectively gathers electrically charged powdered ink (known as toner) and transfers it to paper where it is heated to cure it and create the printed image.
