Both Digital and Giclée printing require good quality, print-ready artwork to produce the best results. To prepare your own artwork you should use a suitable application (Adobe Photoshop or similar). NB. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and other ‘office’ applications will not provide artwork of the necessary quality.
These 3 specifications are crucial:
Colour Space
Provide artwork in RGB or CIELab and embed the ICC profile.
NOTE: Do not use CMYK, it is a device-dependent colour space, intended for 4 colour print systems such as offset lithography.
Image Size
Save artwork at 180 – 360 PPI at the desired print size (240 PPI is ideal).
NOTES: DPI (Dots per inch) is not the same thing as PPI (Pixels per inch). Only printing presses use dots. Everything else; monitors, cameras, scanners and image files use pixels.
If you image is not at least 180 PPI at the required print size, increasing the PPI to the required amount will not make the image more suitable.
Delivery Method
You can deliver your artwork on CD, DVD, USB Memory Stick or by email.
